Sub: Approval for manufacture and supply wire ropes to mines for Balancing rope -thereof.

Dear Sir,

 Please refer to your letter No. M-29020|61976|2024|Mechanical(HQ), dated 29.06.2024 on the above cited subject.

The matter has been further considered in light of what has been stated by you in the letter under reference. I, by virtue of the powers granted under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulation, 2017, hereby approve the balancing rope Manufactured and supplied as per IS 18532:2024 by M/s Usha Martin Limited for a period of two year from the date of issue of this approval with terms and conditions as stipulated in the enclosed Annexure. All terms and conditions stipulated in Annexure, shall be strictly complied with. Please note that the application for regular approval shall be made along with performance report issued from the user and signed by an officer of not below the rank of a General Manager or equivalent.

Please acknowledge the receipt of the letter.

ANNEXURE :

CONDITIONS  FOR MANUFACTUE AND SUPPLY  OF WIRE ROPES TO MINES FOR USE AS BALANCING ROPE

1. All the care  and precautions shall be taken in the manufacture of balancing ropes and shall not be prejudicial to the recommendation of the indigenous wire rope committee forwarded earlier.

2. The wires used in the balancing ropes shall fully conform to the latest IS 18532:2024 and the ropes shall fully conform to the latest relevant Indian Standards. The lubrication of the core and the rope shall be satisfactory. The lubricants shall conform to relevant I.S.S. as and when published.

3. The manufacturer shall be fully responsible for the quality of each length of rope(s) supplied to mines. Each balancing rope shall be of good quality, free from any manufacturing defect or deficiency and shall give satisfactory performance in use. Each length of balancing rope shall supply on suitable reel, properly identified and properly protected against weather.

4. Efficient and active field service persons shall be employed, for regular inspection of the ropes and you shall be responsible for any omission on the part of the field service personnel. Field service engineers shall be posted in the areas where the ropes are used and shall regularly inspect the installations and submit reports.

5. If at any time any serious defect is found, in ropes supplied to any mine, which is due to deficiency in quality or manufacture, the approval hereby accorded through this letter shall be liable to be withdrawn.

6. Life of the balancing rope shall be Restricted as per Regulation 85(4)(a) of the Coal Mines Regulation, 2017 or Regulation 88(4) of the Metalliferous Mines Regulation, 1961.
