Subject:   Approval (Approval No. SA/13-74) under Regulation 208(3) & 200 of the Coal Mines Regulations 2017 of  RHINO-100 shots Exploder for use in in Belowground coal mines for sinking & drifting operation and in Metalliferous mines for all operations where Regulation 142 of the Metalliferous Mines Regulations 1961, is applicable, manufactured by M/s Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Co., Kolkata- Renewal thereof.

Please refer to your online application vide ref id no. 61375 dated 25.02.2025,  offline letter No. EEMC:SS:DGMS:24-25 dated 25.02.2025, and subsequent documents including performance report submitted by you online in connection with the above subject.

In view of the satisfactory performance reports from mines and  In exercise of the power conferred on the Chief Inspector of Mines also designated as Director General of Mines Safety under Regulation 208(3) & 200 of the Coal Mines Regulations 2017, and Regulation 165(3) of the Metalliferous Mines Regulations 1961, I, hereby grant renewal approval of RHINO-100 shots Exploder (Approval No. SA/13-74) for use in mines, manufactured by M/s Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Co., Kolkata.

The renewal of the Approval is subjected to the following conditions:

1. All the conditions of the approval granted vide this Directorate letters No. 14(11)/72-Genl/1301 dated 13.05.2004 & S 66021/165/2006-Genl/RP-11 dated 18.02.2016 shall remain unchanged except the validity.
2. The renewal shall be valid for the period of 02 years i.e. up to 31.10.2026 or till phase out of the electric detonator as per the guidelines and the timeframe governed by the Gazette Notification vide no. S.O. 1563(E) of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce regarding phasing out of the electric detonator, whichever is earlier.
3. The  approval shall remain valid subjected to the  validity of  BIS certification.
4. The product shall be tested at any Govt./Govt. Approved laboratory whenever standard of testing regime changes and the approval is revalidated from this Directorate under new/revised testing standard (s).
