Subject:- Approval under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 for hand-held electric flameproof coal drill type ‘Chanda’ model ‘B’ in MS fabricated enclosure and rated at 1.5 HP, 125 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz, 2 poles, 300/480/600 RPM (with gears) of approval No. 519 of 2004, manufactured by M/S Chanda & Co. (Engg.) Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata for use in belowground Coal Mines- Renewal thereof.

Please refer to your online application No.E-29021/61369/2022/Electrical (HQ) dated 24.09.2022 on the above subject & test reports and other documents submitted therewith in this regard.
I, in exercise of powers conferred upon Chief Inspector of Mines (also designated as Director General of Mines Safety) under Regulation 208 (3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby renew the approval (DGMS Approval No. 519 of 2004) granted vide this Directorate's letter No. 282/2064/EHQ dated 16.09.2004 for a further period of five years, i.e. up to 16.09.2027 for use in belowground Coal Mines. The conditions mentioned in the original approval and subsequent renewal letters, if any, shall be strictly complied with and the test reports of all the electrical items covered under this approval, conforming to the latest testing standards, shall be submitted within three months, if not submitted before.
The application for renewal should be made at least three (03) months before the date of expiry of the approval.
