Subject:-  Approval under  Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 for Flameproof & intrinsically safe electric apparatus as listed in Annexure-B incorporated/associated with the Caterpillar Highwall Miner, CAT HW300, Sr.No.SHM 74-R manufactured by M/s Caterpillar Global Mining LLC, USA, for use in belowground Coal Mines India– Renewal Approval thereof.

Please refer to your online application No. E-29021/61997/2024/Electrical (HQ) dated 11/11/2024 on the above subject & test reports and other documents submitted therewith in this regard.

I, in exercise of powers conferred upon Chief Inspector of Mines (also designated as Director General of Mines Safety) under regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby renew the approval (DGMS Approval No. 739 of 2018 (Renewal approval) granted regular approval vide this Directorate's letter No. 530/947/EHQ, Dhanbad, dated 20.12.2018. for a further period of two years, i.e. up to 10.02.2030 for use in belowground Coal Mines in India. In the interest of safety, the OEM guidelines shall be adhered to and spares, supplied by OEM shall only be used while maintaining the machine/Equipment. The conditions mentioned in the original approval and subsequent renewal letters, if any, shall be strictly complied with and the test reports of all the electrical items covered under approval, conforming to the latest standards, specifically the apparatus listed in the enclosed annexure-A at no. 1,2,3 & 6 shall be submitted within three months failing to which this approval is deemed withdrawn.

Please note that application for renewal should be made at least three (03) months before the date of expiry of the approval.
