Subject: -Approval under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 for Flameproof, weatherproof and intrinsically Safe Electrical apparatus (06 items as detailed in Annexure-A ) conforming to IS/IEC 60079-0:2017, IS/IEC 60079-1:2014 and IS/IEC 60079-11:2023 associated with feeder breaker manufactured by M/s. Joy Global(UK) Ltd for use in belowground Coal Mines –Renewal thereof.

Please refer to your online application no. E-29021/62561/2025/Electrical (HQ) dated 06/10/2025 on the above subject and test reports and other documents submitted therewith in this regard.

I, in exercise of powers conferred upon Chief Inspector of Mines (also designated as Director General of Mines Safety) under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby renew the approval (DGMS Approval No. 688 of 2014) granted vide this Directorate's letter No. 483/1906/EHQ dated 31.12.2014 for a further period of two years, i.e. up to 01/12/2027 for use in belowground Coal Mines.

The associated items and conditions mentioned in the original approval and subsequent renewal letters, if any, shall be strictly complied with and the test reports of all the electrical items covered under approval, conforming to the latest testing standards specifically of associated electrical apparatus with testing standard IS/IEC 60079-11:2023 , shall be submitted within three months. In case of non-compliance, the approval will be revoked.

The OEM guidelines shall be adhered to and spares, supplied by OEM shall only be used in the interest of Safety.

The application for renewal should be made at least three (03) months before the date of expiry of this approval.
