Joy Global (UK) Ltd for use in belowground Coal Mines-Renewal thereof

Please refer to your online application No. E-29021|62650|2026|Electrical(HQ) dated 05/12/2025 on the above subject and test reports andother documents submitted therewith in this regard.

I, in exercise of powers conferred upon Chief Inspector of Mines (also designated as Director General of Mines Safety) under Regulation208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby renew the approval (DGMS Approval No. 752 of 2019) granted vide this Directorate’s letter No. 483/302/EHQ dated 26.03.2019 for a further period of five years, i.e. up to 30.01.2031 for use in belowground Coal Mines. The conditions mentioned in the original approval, subsequent renewal letters, and the amendment approval (wherever applicable), issued vide letter no. E-29021/61840/2024/Electrical (HQ) dated 29.05.2024, shall be strictly complied with, and the test reports of all the electrical items covered under approval, conforming to the latest testing standards, shall be submitted within three months, if not submitted before. The OEM guidelines shall be adhered to, and spares supplied by OEM shall only be used while maintaining the machines in the interest of safety.

The application for renewal should be made at least three (03) months before the date of expiry of this approval.

Condition: The latest test report for the intrinsically safe apparatus, conforming to IS/IEC 60079-11:2023, may please be submitted to this Directorate within three (03) months from the date of issuance of this approval. In case the same is not received within the stipulated period, the approval may be reviewed, which could lead to its withdrawal.

Note : In the original DGMS Approval No. 752 of 2019 vide this Directorate's letter No. 483/302/EHQ dated 26.03.2019, the item "FLP Light Fittings (Head Light), Model: FSR1,24VDC.as mentioned at Serial No. 10, has now been replaced with "FLP LIGHT FITTINGS(HEAD LIGHT) ML102, 24V DC, as FLP LIGHT FITTINGS(HEAD LIGHT) ML102, 24V DC has been successfully trialled and which has already been approved under DGMS Approval Numbers DGMS Approval Nos. 4691/2020, 756 of 2019, 829 of 2024, and 714 of 2016.
As requested by the applicant, In the original DGMS Approval No. 752 of 2019 vide this Directorate's letter No. 483/302/EHQ dated 26.03.2019 , the item “FLP Stop/Start Unit-Model SS1, rated at 18V,” mentioned at Serial No. 12, has been replaced with “Flameproof SWITCH /Connection Box Type:5000016252,” since the said item has already been field-trialed and was considered under DGMS Approval No. 714 of 2016.
