Subject: Approval  of LED Cap Lamps, Model - DEW-X4 manufactured by M/s Dishant Engineering Works, Howrah for use in belowground Coal Mines: Renewal thereof.

Please refer to your online application vide ID No.61829 dated 22.02.2024, on the above subject, enclosing therewith the test reports from CSIR- CIMFR, Dhanbad.

In view of the satisfactory performance reports from the mines of M/s Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and M/s Eastern Coal fields Limited (ECL) and reports of test carried out at CSIR-CIMFR, Dhanbad vide No. IN/CIMFR/TR23/S/H97 dated 14th June 2023 and batch testing of cap lamp conducted at CSIR-CIMFR vide report no.  IN/CIMFR/TR21/B/H334 &  no. - IN/CIMFR/TR21/B/H335, both dated 14th January 2021 for the mines of M/s MCL and report no.- IN/CIMFR/TR20/B/H213 dated 13th November 2020 for the mines of M/s ECL,   I, in exercise of powers conferred on Chief Inspector of Mines, also designated as Director General of Mines Safety, under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby approve LED Cap Lamp, Model DEW-X4 manufactured by M/s Dishant Engineering Works (approval reference No. SA-02/2019), for use in belowground Coal Mines, for further period of five years i.e. upto 20.05.2029, subject to strict compliance of the conditions of approval granted vide letter No. S 66021/24/2014-Genl/P-02 dated 14.01.2019 and the following additional condition:

“The product shall be tested from any Govt. approved laboratory, whenever standard of testing changes and the approval gets revalidated from this Directorate under the new/revised testing standards.”
