Subject:-Approval under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 for Flameproof and weatherproof well glass light fitting with in built control gear in cast iron enclosure rated upto 125 V, 50 Hz,upto and incluiding 80W HPMV lamps or upto and incluiding 2x42 W CFL category No- PFC/WG/14A manufactured by M/s- Pluto Flameproof controls, Mumbai conforming to IS/IEC 60079-0:2017, IS/IEC60079-1:2014 and IS/IEC 60529:2001(Reaffirmed 2014) for use in belowground Coal Mines in India- Permissible variation thereof.

Please refer to your online application ID: 62020 dated 31.07.2024, test reports and other supporting documents submitted therewith on the above-mentioned subject.
The matter has since been examined and based on the CIMFR test report no. IN/CIMFR/TR23/S/2099 dated 24.11.2023 and the associated drawing no. PFC/WG/14A, Rev-03, dated 01.01.2021 and the declaration of the manufacturer, the following permissible variation is allowed in the above apparatus subject to fulfilment of the conditions stipulated in approval No. 480 of 2002.

The above Flameproof and weatherproof well glass light fitting with in built control gear in cast iron enclosure rated upto 125 V, 50 Hz,upto and incluiding 80W HPMV lamps or upto and incluiding 2x42 W CFL category No- PFC/WG/14A can also be used as "with or without ON/OFF isolator switch of rating up to maximum 6.0A for use of LED(SMD/COB type) with driver or Bulb type upto 50Watts in 110V AC supply with mining type cable gland or FLP/WP double compression threaded type cable glands" without any change in the flameproof features and gross/net volume of the light fitting as approved originally”.

The above approval is subjected to the condition that the sample light fitting shall be submitted at this office for verification within three months from the date of issue of this letter or written notification must be provided to this office upon its first supply to any of the belowground coal mines in India, so that the apparatus can be inspected to verify the amended dimensions.

This letter shall always be accompanied with the approval no.480 of 2002 issued vide Directorate's letter No. 473/120/EHQ, Dhanbad dated 23.01.2002.
