Sub:    Approval under Regulation 208 (3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 for flameproof and intrinsically safe junction box cum lighting and signaling unit, type No. MLT rated at 550-440 V AC, upto 1 KVA, 550/110 V lighting transformer and 25 VA, 550/15 V intrinsically safe signaling transformer, 50 Hz in mild steel construction manufactured by M/s Safex (India), Dhanbad conforming to IS/IEC 60079-1:2007, IS/IEC 60079-11:2006, IS/IEC 60079-0:2004 and IS:12063-1987 for use in belowground Coal Mines– Renewal thereof.
 
 
Please refer to your online application No. E-29021/30552/2020/Electrical (HQ) dated 17.09.2020, offline application No. SSI/DGMS/MLT/0-21/48 dated 15.07.2020 on the above subject and CIMFR test report Nos. CIMFR/TC/SR/H481 dated 23.12.2011 and CIMFR/TC/P/ H591 dated 10.12.2012, BIS License No. CM/L- 5063756 and other documents submitted therewith in this regard. 
 
I, in exercise of powers conferred upon Chief Inspector of Mines (also designated as Director General of Mines Safety) under Regulation 208(3) of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, hereby renew the approval (DGMS Approval No. 449 of 1997) granted vide this Directorate's letter No. 429/276/EHQ dated 18.03.1997 for a further period of five years, i.e. up to 19.01.2025 for use in belowground Coal Mines.  The conditions mentioned in the original approval and subsequent renewal letters shall be strictly complied with. 
 
Please note that application for renewal should be made at least three (03) months before the date of expiry of the approval.
